Cuban Communist
Party (PCC) - as an institution, the Party tends to be a
conservative force whose leadership and cadres resonate more with the
sentiments of the duros or centristas than with those of
the reformistas.
Revolutionary
Armed Forces - the first founding
revolutionary institution created in 1959. The FAR enjoys an intrinsic
legitimacy that eludes the PCC and will be the key player in a
post-Castro Cuba.
Ministry
of the Interior - remains the regime's first line of defense
against internal subversion and opposition.
